Week 1
The kids did fantastic their first week. They all did a great job participating all day. It was fun getting to know a little about each one through their presentations.
Below is brief information about how the memory work was introduced to students this week. Some songs can be found on your cycle 2 CD. I also used some hand motions that I found on CC connected and the usernames are listed. If you have any questions or need more details please let me know via text or e-mail.

SUPPLIES: Please have your child bring (1) ultra fine tip dry erase marker, and (1) fine tip dry erase marker.
SNACKS: Please send a snack and a water bottle with your child's name clearly labeled on the bottle each week.
PRESENTATIONS: Presentations are an important part of the Classical program. These are excellent opportunities for your child to build and establish great interpersonal communication skills with their peers in a group setting. Each child will be encouraged to participate in our weekly presentations while are scheduled to begin at 9:50 in our class this year. The suggested 2016-2017 presentation schedule can be found on the home page. The same schedule will be used by all tutors on the BGCC campus.
There is no need to prepare for the week one presentations as this will be an interview conducted by myself. For the following weeks, early preparation for weekly presentations is encouraged to help your child feel confident and comfortable when it is his/her time to present. They can practice their presentations at home to siblings, parents, grandparents, pets, or even stuffed animals. If the week's presentation is "Show and Tell", please be sure that the item they are bringing is small enough to fit in their backpack in order to keep disruptions during class at a minimum.
EMAILS/UPDATES: All parent/teacher correspondence for the Apprentice A class will be posted here on the blog. I will update the Apprentice A tab in the top menu of the home page with a recap of the precious community day after class each week by Saturday @ midnight.

I am very excited for the upcoming school year and want to thank you for the opportunity to spend this year learning and exploring with your children.
Hi, my name is Jodie Rodriguez, and I am excited to be your Apprentice A tutor for the 2016-2017 school year at BGCC.
Before I get into the details of the class I would like to share with you a little about my family and I. My husband, Anthony, and I have been married for 10 years. He is a chiropractor with a practice in Longview. We have 3 very active boys Keigan (7), Drew (4) and one quick Taylor (13 months). We are beginning our 3rd year of homeschooling which we started with BGCC. We frequently can be seen outside on walks, hikes, or drives enjoying the beauty of what God has created. I mentioned that we have 3 very active boys and therefore are quite busy doing activities to get some energy out which includes trips to the Children's museum in Portland, play dates at local parks, swimming, hiking, biking, playing soccer, baseball, football, or anything else which will expend some energy.
Our first Community day is right around the corner (Sept. 8th) and I would like to share a few important details for the upcoming year. My parent helpers are Mrs. Siedenburg and Mrs. Jenks. They will be present each week to assist your child in the classroom which will help maximize the tutoring efforts and help to ensure good classroom management according to the BGCC's policies. I am thankful for their help this year and appreciate their experience with Classical Conversations.
